So we continue to wait to see if the results of the transfer window are a success.
Despite leaking five just days before the close of the deadline, we made three attacking additions to the squad.
Defensive cover in the form of George John had been brought in on loan, but we still wait to see him involved in any meaningful action.
The players that came in drew mixed opinions. Nicky Maynard is clearly a proven goal scorer, Ricardo Vaz Ta has experience up to Premiership level, and Ravel Morrison is a recognised up-and-coming talent.
My fear is we’ve been here before with an attacking focus. Although different circumstances, under Zola we invested in fire power to boost the campaign. Ilan, Mido and McCarthy were all brought in to see us right, with distinctly underwhelming results.
These new boys need to get into the groove quickly to address the issues that have been complained about – a lack of goals.
If they don’t start banging them in, or creating the chances, we’ll have every right to be disappointed, if not annoyed.
With the game against Peterborough postponed, we missed another chance to potentially see what we now have on the books.
Maynard has not played in anger, Vaz Ta looked sharp enough with his two minute run out, and Morrison has only attracted negative headlines with Tweet related allegations.
What we don’t need is a goalscorer who stops scoring, a flying winger who seems to have tied his laces together, and a youth prospect that falls short.
We have a massive game against Southampton where Big Sam will be demanding we start firing from the off, despite the break.
The lack of goals has been identified, the apparent solutions have been hired; it has to add up to results quickly to prove we really are heading to an end of season success. No excuses.

Decent article. Think Maynard will prove to a bargain at the reported £2 Mill fee and Morrison was well worth the gamble at 650k (apparently), but it remains to be seen if he fulfils his evident potential. Great website guys. I’ll be checking in regularly. Rev.
